Red Wolves' Malzahn Appears On ESPNU To Talk Alabama Defense Pre-BCS Title Game

Arkansas State Coach Gus Malzahn recently appeared on ESPNU to break down the Alabama defense prior to the BCS title game.

This story is from the archives of ArkansasSports360.com.

Arkansas State Coach Gus Malzahn is as qualified as anybody to break down the national championship game between No. 1 LSU and No. 2Alabama. During three years at Auburn he faced both defenses with varying degrees of success.

Malzahn recently joined host Dari Nowkah on ESPNU’s College Football Wraparound to break down Alabama’s defense. Malzahn, who officially began work with ASU on Jan. 1, said this year’s Alabama defense was the best he’s seen in “six years of being a college coordinator.”

This, of course, is exactly the sort of publicity that ASU was hoping for when it hired Malzahn, one of the top offensive coordinators in the country. Though he was first introduces as the former coordinator at Auburn, his “resume” was listed on screen as being Arkansas State’s coach.

ASU (10-2) plays Sunday in the GoDaddy.com Bowl against Northern Illinois (10-2). Malzahn will be in town for the game. It is unknown what sort of role he'll play in coaching against the Huskies.
