Consumer sentiment about the Arkansas economy is down, according to a new survey. The Arkansas Institute for Economic Advancement at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock reports that its Index of Durable Goods Purchasing fell slightly. The index measures consumer attitudes about the state economy and their spending plans for major items. Results regarding car buying attitudes are actually up slightly from last quarter. But the overall lower opinion of the economy coincides with news of slightly weaker conditions in labor markets and other evidence of slower growth in the economy.
