Arkansas’ success on the football field has grown considerably since Bobby Petrino took over the program. Petrino’s first team was 5-7 and the program recently capped just the third 11-win season in school history.
Also improved since Petrino’s arrival? Assistant coaching salaries.
Assistants at Arkansas will be paid a total of $2.603 million for 2012. It’s not a drastic increase, but is an improvement from the $1.9 million that Petrino’s first staff made. Salaries have grown for the staff each year as the Razorbacks' win totals have grown from 5 to 8 to 10 to 11.
Assistant head coach/linebackers coach Taver Johnson will make $275,000 annually. He’s the third-highest paid assistant behind offensive coordinator Paul Petrino and defensive coordinator Paul Haynes, who each make $475,000.
Both Haynes and Paul Petrino were added to the staff within the last month. All five returning assistants and Kevin Peoples, who moved from administration to an on-field role saw their pay from 2011 bumped for 2012.
