Former Oklahoma State guard Fred Gulley is hoping to join the Arkansas basketball team.

Gully, a Fayetteville native, told Kurt Voigt of the Associated Press he is waiting to be cleared by the NCAA, but is currently enrolled as a student at Arkansas. He transferred from OSU at midterm.

Prior to transferring Gulley was averaging 4.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. He was a redshirt sophomore with the Cowboys and averaged 18.4 minutes per game.

According to the AP, “Gulley isn't sure whether he would be a walk-on or scholarship player.”

Asked if he had a new addition to this team, Coach Mike Anderson said: “Not that I know of. Unless you know something I don't know."

Arkansas fans might remember Gulley from his days as a junior high player. A Northwest Arkansas newspaper reported Gulley received a scholarship offer from then Razorback coach Stan Heath while he was in seventh grade.

Gulley would give the Razorbacks additional depth in the backcourt. He was splitting time at point guard with three other players at OSU.

Coach Travis Ford told the Daily Oklahoman in December that Gulley was leaving in search of more playing time.

“Everybody wants 30 minutes and wants to be the guy,” Ford said. “I understand that.”
