Newport's E.J. Rucker Hits 2,000 points in High School Career

NEWPORT - Newport guard E.J. Rucker has become the fourth high school boys' basketball player in state history to score more than 2,000 points in his career.

Rucker, a senior, hit the milestone last week while scoring 30 points against Clinton. Rucker now has 2,010 points in his high-school career.

The Arkansas Activities Association said Bennie Fuller of the Arkansas School for the Deaf holds the state record with 4,896 points from 1968 to 1971. Jim Bryan of Valley Springs is second with 2,792 points scored from 1955-58. In third place is Allan Pruett of Rector who scored 2,018 points from 1963-66.
