1 min read

Four members of Arkansas’ Walton family rank among the world’s billionaires, according to the latest list by Forbes magazine.

Jim, Alice and S. Robson Walton, the surviving children of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. founder Sam Walton, rank at Nos. 16, 17 and 18, respectively, on the magazine’s annual list of the world’s wealthiest people.

Christy Walton, 57, of Wyoming, the widow of Sam Walton’s other son, John, once again outranks them all, at No. 11. She and her family are worth about $25.3 billion, which includes proceeds from Wal-Mart stock and John Walton’s early investments in First Solar, which makes solar panels. John Walton died in an airplane accident in 2005.

Jim Walton, 64, and chairman of Arvest Bank, is worth about $23.7 billion. Alice Walton, 62, whose Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art opened last year in Bentonville, is worth about $23.3 billion. S. Robson Walton, 68, and chairman of Wal-Mart Stores, is worth about $23.1 billion, according to the list.

Other Arkansans made the list:

  • Warren Stephens, 55, who is CEO of Stephens Inc. of Little Rock, is ranked No. 442, worth about $2.7 billion.
  • Johnelle Hunt, 80, who co-founded J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. of Lowell with her late husband, J.B., is ranked No. 804, worth about $1.6 billion.

Jerry Jones, 69, of Texas, owner of the Dallas Cowboys, also made the list again, ranking at No. 634, worth about $2 billion.
