Henderson State’s Dusty Hudson and Southern Arkansas’ Doug Shields have been named the Great American Conference Baseball Players of the Week for their performances March 12-18.

Hudson drove in nine runs and hit three home runs during a 2-3 week for the Reddies (13-11, 4-5 GAC). The Wynne native went 7 for 12 for a .583 batting average in four games. Hudson had two multi-hit games, including his best outing of the week in a 7-5 loss to Southwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday. The designated hitter went 3 for 4, including a two-run home run in the top of the first inning. In the second game of Saturday's conference doubleheader he went 2 for 4 with grand slam in the first that gave the Reddies an early lead in what turned out to be a 9-5 loss.

Shields pitched a complete-game, three-hit shutout in a 6-0 victory at Arkansas-Monticello on Saturday. The Mesquite, Texas, native allowed only three hits, walking none and striking out four for his first shutout of the season and third consecutive complete game. Shields becomes the second Mulerider to earn pitcher of the week honors this season. James Baune was selected on Feb. 28.
