Sporting News: NFL Scouts 'Disappointed' Razorbacks' Wilson Not Available In 2012

Tyler Wilson has acknowledged he had a big decision to make in coming back to Arkansas.

NFL teams were interested in him and going pro was very much an option for Wilson, who enters his senior season with the Razorbacks. As we get closer to the  2012 draft, it becomes clearer just how much pro scouts liked the Greenwood native.

“There were a lot of people disappointed when he didn’t come out [early],” a pro scout recently told SportingNews.com.

Wilson, who is mentioned as a likely first-round pick this year, is listed among the site’s best college quarterbacks for 2012. Southern Cal quarterback Matt Barkley is regarded as the best at the position entering the season. SportingNews.com lists Wilson as the No. 1 prospect not named Matt Barkley.

“I love his moxie. I’ve seen him—over and over—stand tall in the pocket and just get drilled after delivering a strike. He has a big arm, and he has the right guy [Bobby Petrino] coaching him. There were a lot of people disappointed when he didn’t come out [early]. I want to see him perform when they’re the hunted.”

Wilson, 6-3, 220 pounds, was a first-team All-SEC pick in 2011. He threw for 3,638 yards and 24 touchdowns with just six interceptions.
