With his visage already on billboards as Arkansas State's ticket to the next level, it's inevitable that Red Wolves football coach Gus Malzahn would be asked about whether he'd make the move to the next area code at Arkansas. (Photo by Stone Ward)

Possible candidates for the open head football coaching position at Arkansas are being suggested by fans and pundits. Some of the names sound familiar from 2007, the last time the Razorbacks searched for a new coach.

One name that keeps bobbing to the surface is Gus Malzahn. He's got Arkansas ties as both a native and former employee of the university. He's got the pedigree after winning a BCS National Championship as Auburn's offensive coordinator.

And, oh yeah, he's also the current head coach at Arkansas State. Could his employee status change in the near future? Ben Kercheval of MSNBC Sports reports on Malzahn's response to that question.

When asked by Mickey Ryan of 103.9 The Game in Jonesboro if he had any contact with UA, Malzahn gave the typical response.

I’m the coach at Arkansas State. I’m not worried about anything else. I’m committed to being here.”

So there you go. Malzahn is the coach at Arkansas State. He is not worried. He is committed to being at Arkansas State.

We are also sitting in this chair, typing this sentence, but that's neither here nor there at this time, right?
