News and notes from Friday’s post practice media availability …
I. Hot Hand
Tyler Wilson became the first Arkansas quarterback to earn first-team all-SEC honors last fall. He’s looked the part in the spring.
Wilson was again sharp in scrimmage work, completing 39 of 49 passes for 449 yards and 3 touchdowns. Wilson’s touchdown throws went to tight end Chris Gragg and twice to Javontee Herndon.
“There’s not a quarterback in the country playing better than Tyler Wilson right now,” Arkansas offensive coordinator Paul Petrino said. “... He’s throwing all kinds of touchdowns. He’s executing. He knows what he’s doing.”
According to “The Slophouse” blog: Wilson has completed 80 of 104 passes without an interception. His totals include 1,126 yards and 13 touchdowns.
II. No Contact
Knile Davis again did not engage in contact on Friday. There won’t be any for the junior running back.
Offensive coordinator Paul Petrino said Davis won’t be getting tackled this spring. Davis is rehabbing from a fractured ankle that caused him to miss 2011.
“Knile is not going to get hit this spring,” Paul Petrino said. “No. We’re not going to let Knile get hit this spring.”
III. Injury Update
Wide receiver Cobi Hamilton, defensive end Tenarius Wright and tight end Austin Tate all left practice with injuries of some sort.
Wright later said he left the field because of a contusion, but would be ready for next week’s Red-White game. Offensive coordinator Paul Petrino said he believed Tate, who was driven off in a cart, “will be OK.”
There was no immediate update on Hamilton’s status.
Speaking Out
