Four University of Arkansas men’s golfers earned Southeastern Conference accolades on Monday as the league released the 2012 men’s golf post-season awards. Senior Ethan Tracy and sophomore Sebastian Cappelen were named to the All-SEC First Team while freshman Kolton Crawford took All-Freshman team honors and junior Austin Cook was named the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Tracy and Cappelen have had tremendous seasons on their way to all-league first-team honors. Tracy was placed on the Ben Hogan Award watch list in February and leads the team with a stroke average of 71.83. The elder statesman of the team has six top 10 finishes this season and tied for 23rd at the SEC Championship. Cappelen has Arkansas’ only individual victory of the year when he won the Cabo Collegiate in November. Since his win, the Odense, Denmark, native has four top 15 finishes and tied for 27th at the SEC Championship. The honors for Tracy and Cappelen are the second All-SEC honors of their careers and first first-team awards.

Crawford has been a vital contributor to Arkansas’ school-record seven tournament victories this season and was instrumental in Arkansas’ win at the Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championship. The Mansfield, Texas, native sank a birdie putt on the 21st hole of competition to clinch the team victory for the Razorbacks and has a stroke average of 73.27 this season which ranks third best among Razorback freshmen all-time.

The SEC Scholar-Athlete award has been awarded eight times prior to 2012 and Cook is the first Razorback to take the award. The Jonesboro, Ark., native holds a 3.833 grade point average in biology and along with his prowess in the classroom has played in every tournament of his collegiate career. Cook was an All-SEC Freshman team player in 2009 and continues to improve on the links, dropping his stroke average each season while maintaining the academic excellence that he has set for himself.
