Arkansas forward Marshawn Powell should be cleared for full contact in July.

Coach Mike Anderson said during a Razorback Club appearance in Manila that Powell’s rehab is going well and the junior forward is on target for full recovery. Powell suffered a season-ending knee injury in November, just two games into the season.

“Marshawn is rehabbing and he’s on target to get back to full contact right around July, which will be good,” Anderson told the Jonesboro Sun. “This year, NCAA legislation has been instituted where we can actually do individual workouts during the summer months. That will give us an opportunity to bring him along slowly, but he’s doing fine.”

Powell entered last season as a preseason All-SEC pick. He averaged 19.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in two games before tearing his ACL during practice.

Anderson said in March that Powell is “tailor-made” for the Arkansas’ system. Without the athletic forward the Razorbacks finished 18-15, but began the season 16-6.

Finding a complement to Powell inside is still a focus for Anderson and his staff. They continue to recruit for 2012-13. Adding additional toughness and strength are the goals, Anderson said.

“We’re currently out recruiting right now,” Anderson told The Sun. “We’re trying to bring in guys to come in and look over our campus to be a part of what we’re doing. We’re trying to bring in some size to go along with the players that we already have.”
