It has been a few years since Arkansas State played in Little Rock, but the Red Wolves will have a presence there nonetheless this week.

New coach Gus Malzahn continues his “Head of State Road Tour” tour with an appearance at War Memorial Stadium on Wednesday night. Stadium manager Charlie Staggs and crew have dressed up the field with a 10-yard wide Red Wolf logo to welcome Malzahn, who will speak at 7 p.m. on the latest stop of his three-day, 14-city tour of Arkansas.

Admission to the Malzahn appearance is free.

While ASU, which last played in War Memorial against Oklahoma State in 2006, doesn’t have a Little Rock game on its immediate schedule, Staggs made it clear in comments on ASU’s website he would welcome the Red Wolves whenever they could set a date.

“We are excited about the opportunity of working with Arkansas State University on the reception and the possibility of hosting The Red Wolves in the future at the stadium,” Staggs said. “We feel this is an electrifying time for A-State football and are enthusiastic about being included as a part of the new era in A-State football.”
