Arkansas center Travis Swanson has been tabbed as one of the top pro prospects at his position entering 2012. So it’s no surprise to see him among the players listed as preseason candidates for the Rimington Trophy.

Swanson, 6-5, 305, is one of 50 players on the spring watch list for the award that goes to the top center in the country. An all-SEC freshman pick in 2010, Swanson has started 26 consecutive games.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper recently named him as the No. 1 junior center prospect in the country.

Swanson said earlier this month he takes the accolades in stride. He’ll use them to push him throughout the summer.

“It’s a neat deal when you think about it,” Swanson said. “It gives you plenty of reason to be motivated and work hard.”

Former Arkansas center Jonathan Luigs won the Rimington Trophy in 2008.
