Razorbacks Open As No. 2 Seed In NCAA Baseball Tournament's Houston Regional

Arkansas enters the NCAA Baseball Tournament as a No. 2 seed in the Houston Regional.

The Razorbacks (39-19) face Sam Houston State (38-20) in the opening round. Host Rice (40-17) and Prairie View (28-23) round out the regional field.

"We're obviously excited about getting to a regional," Arkansas Coach Dave Van Horn said. "You get in a regional, you have a chance."

Senior DJ Baxendale will pitch the opening game against the Bearkats. Baxendale (7-4) enters with a 3.02 earned run average.

"We've got to win game one," Van Horn said. "He's throwing the best of anybody."

Ryne Stanek (6-4) will pitch the second game. He enters with a 3.02 ERA.
