Jeff Long Says Razorbacks Can Expect 'Something Different' From Football Uniforms

Is this a photo of new Arkansas football uniforms?

This story is from the archives of ArkansasSports360.com.

Is Arkansas getting new football uniforms for 2012?

It’s certainly looking that way.

A review of the evidence below:

•Athletic Director Jeff Long told Bo Mattingly, host of Sports Talk, on Wednesday: “I think you can expect to see something a little different this year"

•A photo has been circulating for weeks online of purported new designs. Ordinarily, that could be dismissed, but we hear folks at the UA were trying to find out the origins of that photo. Also worth noting is that the photo (included with this post) appears to have been taken inside of John L. Smith’s office. Perhaps it’s simply a photoshop. It’s been easy to dismiss until Long’s comments today.

•Also of note: football preview magazine photo shoots were done earlier this month with players in sweats and t-shirts. Uniforms were "out for cleaning" and UA folks were unsure of when they'd be back.

•Recruits have been talking on Twitter for months about seeing samples of new uniforms. Including — gasp!!! — black uniforms.

Maybe it’s all just circumstantial evidence.

Perhaps Long is simply trying to keep the masses stirred (football pledge deadline is coming up soon). Long does seem to enjoy tweeting about uniforms and eliciting reaction from fans.

Could all be a bunch of nothing. But it sure feels like Arkansas could be in for its biggest jersey adjustment since switching from Adidas to Nike in 2010.
