Arkansas needs just one more victory to advance to a super regional.

Strong pitching from starter Ryne Stanek and reliever Barrett Astin helped the Razorbacks to a 1-0 victory against host Rice.

Coach Dave Van Horn earned his 400th career win at Arkansas as Stanek pitched seven shutout innings. Astin was on the mound for the eighth and ninth, earning his 10th shutout of the season. Stanek has won seven games for the Razorbacks and Saturday's shutout was his third this year.

A victory Sunday against the Rice/Sam Houston State winner would allow Arkansas (41-19) to advance out of the regional. Gametime is set for 6 p.m. at Recklin Park.

Arkansas finished the game with three hits and could have won without one. Rice gave up a run in the second inning as Dominic Ficociello, who reached on a walk, scored following a sac bunt and an Owls error.

That's all the Razorbacks needed.

Stanek and Astin combined for nine shutout innings, giving up just six hits and two walks while striking out four. Arkansas pitchers have thrown 18 innings in the regional without giving up an earned run.

Randall Fant will start on Sunday.
