LITTLE ROCK - Three years after declaring Barton Coliseum was better suited for rodeos than for basketball, the Arkansas Activities Association will move its basketball championships back to the Little Rock arena.

The 60-year-old complex on the state fairgrounds will host games in 2013. Because the State Fair is considering a move from the property, the high school sports organization gave the 10,000-seat arena the tournament finals for one season rather than the three seasons sought in its bid.

Arkansas State also offered to host next year's finals in Jonesboro.

The finals have been held at Hot Springs' Summit Arena since 2007, but it has a conflict next year with the Sun Belt tournament. Verizon Arena in North Little Rock was also not available next March. UALR wasn't interested in the games.
