Nick Genty, who in February joined KATV-TV, Channel 7, after 25 years at KTHV-TV, Channel 11, has been promoted to news director of the ABC affiliate.

Genty joined Allbritton Communications Co.-owned KATV as assistant news director, replacing Alan Faulkner, who left the position in January. Genty announced his promotion to news director via Twitter on April 22, saying, "I have been given the job to lead the best News Team in the market."

Genty replaces Randy Dixon, who announced in February that he was leaving KATV after 31 years to start his own production company.

KATV has maintained an edge over Gannett Co.-owned KTHV in February TV ratings from Nielsen Media Research. The most recent numbers showed KATV winning two of the three evening time slots, 5 p.m. and 6 p.m., while KTHV came on top at 10 p.m.
