Windstream 4Q Profit Falls 4 Percent, Revenue Rises After Acquisitions

Windstream Corp. of Little Rock on Friday reported fourth-quarter profit down 4 percent compared to the same quarter last year on charges due to recent acquisitons.

The telecommunications company (NYSE: %%WIN%) reported profit of $72.4 million, or 15 cents per share, down 4 percent from $75.5 million, or 17 cents per share, during the same quarter last year. But the new acquisitions pushed revenue up 30 percent to $981 million.

In the last quarter, the company took a 4 cents per share charged on acquisitions. The company recently acquired Iowa Telecommunications Services, NuVox Inc., Q-Comm Corp., and Hosted Solutions.


In a conference call Friday to discuss its earnings, Windstream talked about broadband, business segment growth.
