St. Vincent Health System on Friday held a blessing and a ribbon cutting at "The Clinic At Walmart" at the retailer's location at 19301 Cantrell Road. It will open on Monday.

The walk-in health clinic will provide access to basic health care services such as checkups, screening and minor injuries, according to a St. Vincent news release.

It is the first to be owned and operated by St. Vincent in a Little Rock Wal-Mart, and is the first in the country for Catholic Health Initiatives, the parent company of St. Vincent.

St. Vincent was scheduled to hold a blessing and ribbon cutting at the clinic at noon on Friday.

The clinic will be open for walk-in service Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Sunday 11a.m. until 5 p.m.

"By joining with Wal-Mart to operate "The Clinic at Walmart," operated by St. Vincent Health System we are further expanding our commitment to the health and wellness of our community," said Alan Winkler, vice president of clinic operations for St. Vincent Health System. "Our clinic is staffed with licensed health care providers, during convenient hours, including the weekend, so families can receive quality care without a long wait. It also helps ease the burden on emergency rooms, which aren't designed to treat everyday illnesses like sore throats."

"We are constantly looking for ways to add value for our customers and, with this clinic, we hope to provide Little Rock customers with affordable, accessible and convenient health care," said Bruce Shepard, Wal-Mart's director of health business development.
