The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock named Dr. Nicholas Lang as its chief medical officer for UAMS Medical Center.
“Lang will coordinate quality management functions and be involved in all aspects of the operation of the UAMS Medical Center, and its clinics, including patient satisfaction and cost-effective care,” a UAMS news release said.
Since 1990, Lang has been a professor of surgery in the UAMS College of Medicine. And between 2001 and 2007, he was the chief of staff at the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System.
Dr. Charles Smith, who was the medical director for UAMS Medical Center, now will work full time as executive associate dean in the UAMS College of Medicine, a position he held while being the medical director.
