Dillard's May Same-store Sales Down 2 Percent

Department store chain Dillard's Inc. of Little Rock said Thursday that May same-store sales fell 2 percent.
Analysts had expected al 1.2 percent drop.
Dillard's said total sales in the four-week ended June 2 fell 1 percent to $527.9 million from $533.5 million during the same period last year.
During the four weeks, Dillard's said, sales in its Central and Western regions were in line with the company's average sales performance for the period. Sales in the Eastern region were below trend.
Meanwhile, sales of shoes were stronger than the average company performance for the period. Sales of cosmetics declined more than trend during the period.
Shares of Dillard's (NYSE: DDS) were trading at $35.29 on Thursday after closing at $35.06 on Wednesday.
Dillard's has stores in 29 states.
