The Mitchell Williams Selig Gates & Woodyard law firm of Little Rock said Monday that it is expanding into Texas with an office in Austin.
The firm already has offices in Little Rock and Rogers.
Bill Bingham, the former deputy commissioner for regulatory matters in the life, health and licensing program of the Texas Department of Insurance, will lead the office's insurance regulatory practice as counsel, the firm said.
"The firm has been considering a range of interesting options in Texas for a couple of years and this opportunity just made sense for us and our clients," Harry Hamlin, Mitchell Williams' managing partner, said in a news release. "We are always looking at regional opportunities to expand and have several clients throughout the country who have major transactions in the state. This presented a perfect opportunity for us to serve them in a local capacity."
Bingham has 21 years of legal experience. He was worked for Texas agencies, served on the Texas Attorney General's HIPAA Preemption Analysis Task Force and was an instructor in civil litigation in the University of Texas Legal Assistant Program.
