Tyson Foods Unveils Discovery Center

Tyson Foods Inc. officially unveiled its $45 million, 100,000-SF Discovery Center on Tuesday at the meat processor's headquarters in Springdale.
The center is billed as a research and development facility designed to enhance the company's ability to create new foods and bring them to market more quickly.
"The Discovery Center is much more than a building,'' Richard L. Bond, Tyson president and CEO, told reporters during a tour of the facility. "It's about our passion to create new products designed to meet the ever-changing needs of today's consumers."
The center, announced in 2004 and opened in mid-January, is home to Tyson's Research and Development team. It houses 19 research kitchens, a multi-protein pilot plant, a packaging lab, a sensory analysis lab and consumer focus group capabilities.
Tyson's Research and Development team includes about 120 employees. More than 50 hold advanced degrees.
Shares of the Tyson Foods (NYSE: TSN) were trading at $18.04 on Wednesday after closing at $17.90 on Tuesday.
