Shoptaw Joins Simmons First Board

Robert L. Shoptaw has joined the board of directors for financial holding company Simmons First National Corp. of Pine Bluff, J. Thomas May, chairman and CEO, said Tuesday.

"Bob Shoptaw is a great leader. He gets involved to make a difference, whether it is in his business, industry or community," May said. "He is a visionary when it comes to business, in general, and health care in particular, and he will be a great asset to Simmons First's success as a statewide banking franchise."

Shoptaw, CEO of Arkansas Blue Cross & Blue Shield, has spent more than 36 years with ABCBS. He is also on the board of directors for Easter Seals, the Little Rock Metro Centre Improvement District and the National Institute for Health Care Management.

Simmons First National is a $2.6 billion financial holding company with eight banks in Pine Bluff, Jonesboro, Lake Village, Rogers, Searcy, Russellville, El Dorado and Hot Springs.

Shares of the company (Nasdaq: SFNC) were trading at $28.89 on Tuesday after closing at $28.15 on Monday.
