A vacant cookie factory in downtown North Little Rock will be replaced by a 260-unit apartment complex.

Bomasada Group Inc. of Houston will begin demolishing the former Jackson Cookie Co. facility this month, with construction expected to follow as early as October.

The 2.5-acre property at 113 S. Olive St. will be redeveloped into The Enclave at the Riverfront apartments and receive a new address: 201 Riverfront Drive.

The five-story structure will feature ground-level parking with upscale apartments ranging between 700 and 1,500 SF on the upper floors.

A press conference is scheduled for Wednesday at 11 a.m. on the site.

Geosor Corp. of New York took ownership of the 2.5-acre Jackson Cookie development in September 2004 in a $2 million foreclosure sale.

Bomasada Group is a privately held, full-service real estate firm specializing in multifamily residential and retail real estate in the southwestern and southeastern United States.

"We have been eagerly awaiting the return of new housing construction to our downtown, and this exciting project is evidence that our efforts have not been in vain," said North Little Rock mayor Patrick Henry Hays.

Hays indicated more residential development news is in the offering for downtown North Little Rock.

"We believe that 2005-2006 will be a year characterized by increased attention to residential development in downtown North Little Rock, and we welcome the Bomasada Group to North Little Rock," he said.
