Acxiom Corp. on Tuesday said that it has completed its $40 million acquisition of the Claritas Europe group of companies from VNU N.V. of Haarlem, The Netherlands.

The deal closed Jan. 1.

"I am very excited about our new opportunities in Europe," Charles D. Morgan, Acxiom's company leader, said. "We have an excellent leadership team in place and we have already begun making progress toward integrating the Claritas Europe operations into Acxiom."

The information management technology company expects the acquisition to add about $100 million to Acxiom's annual revenue. Claritas Europe is the largest source of consumer lifestyle and behavioral information across Europe.

Joining Acxiom's European operations in Paris and in London, Leeds and Sunderland, England, will be new data acquisition and sales offices in Paris; Frankfurt, Germany; Warsaw, Poland; Madrid, Spain; Lisbon, Portugal; Teddington, England; and Leiderdorp, The Netherlands. Claritas services operations include Altwood Systems in Kent, England; and BPK Group in Almere and Nieuwegein, The Netherlands.

Kevin Zaffaroni, Acxiom group leader for financial services clients since 1997, will lead the new Acxiom-Europe organization, the company said when it announced the deal in December.

Shares of Acxiom (Nasdaq: ACXM) were trading at $18.98 late Tuesday morning after closing at $19 on Monday — its highest level since September 2002.
