The Little Rock Air Force Base is at the highest state of security as a result of the apparent terrorist attacks against the World Trade Center and Pentagon.

The U.S. Air Force headquarters ordered the Force Protection Condition Delta, which applies in the immediate area where a terrorist attack has occurred or when information has been received that terrorist action is likely, according to a Air Force Base news release. FPCons are implemented in response to possible, probable or actual terrorist acts directed against U.S. personnel or buildings.

The flights have been suspended at the base until further notice.

The facilities on the base are still open, but people coming to the base might experience delays in entering and should be prepared to show positive identification.

"Little Rock personnel stand ready to respond to any nation command authority direction it receives," said Cynde Maddox, public affairs officer for the base.
