Waiting on college football season to start can be agonizing. To pass the time we’ve been thumbing through a collection of national preseason magazines.

We’ll be looking at a different magazine each day the rest of the week, checking out how they break down the season. It’s not quite as exciting as kickoff or those first two-a-days (or even media days), but it’s the best we’ve got for now.

Here’s what Athlon has to say about the...

ARKANSAS RAZORBACKS (9-3, 5-3)
PROJECTED CONFERENCE FINISH:
No. 3 SEC West
NATIONAL RANK:
No. 13
2012 CONF. RECRUITING RANK:
No. 10
ALL-CONFERENCE PICKS:
RB Knile Davis (first-team); WR Cobi Hamilton (first); TE Chris Gragg (first); OL Alvin Bailey (first); QB Tyler Wilson (second); LB Alonzo Highsmith (second); C Travis Swanson (third); K Zach Hocker (third); KR Dennis Johnson (third).
NOTABLE: OL Alvin Bailey is a First Team All-Amercian; Arkansas is projected to again play in the Cotton Bowl, this time against West Virginia; QB Tyler Wilson is No. 10 on the 2012 preseason Heisman Contenders list, with RB Knile Davis listed among 15 More to Watch.

SPEAKING OUT:
“Arkansas took a big step last year by having a serviceable defense, and if it can stay that way the Razorbacks have a chance to break through this year. Tyler Wilson has a year under his belt, and the offense should be bolstered by the return of tailback Knile Davis. LSU and Alabama also both have to travel to Fayetteville.”
