Arkansas' Top Home Centers

At least three Arkansas-based firms are among the largest home center retailers in the country, according to National Home Centers News'' Top 500 list.

Publicly owned National Home Centers Inc. of Springdale is No. 41 with $155 million in revenue last year. Ridout Lumber Cos. of Arkansas, a private company based in Searcy, is No. 68 with revenue of $94 million last year. E.C. Barton & Co. of Jonesboro is No. 73 with 1995 revenue of $80 million.

Home Depot Inc., which will open a store in west Little Rock this year and has bought land on East McCain Boulevard in North Little Rock for another store, is the largest home center retailer in the country with $15.5 billion in '95 revenue. Hechinger Co., which owns a Home Quarters Warehouse in both Little Rock and North Little Rock, is No. 6 with $2.3 billion in revenue.
