Waiting on college football season to start can be agonizing. To pass the time we’ve been thumbing through a collection of national preseason magazines.

We’ll be looking at a different magazine each day the rest of the week, checking out how they break down the season. It’s not quite as exciting as kickoff or those first two-a-days (or even media days), but it’s the best we’ve got for now.

Here’s what Phil Steele has to say about the…

ARKANSAS RAZORBACKS
PROJECTED CONFERENCE FINISH:
  No. 3 SEC West
NATIONAL RANK:  No. 16
2011 CONF. RECRUITING RANK:
No. 11
ALL-CONFERENCE PICKS:
QB Tyler Wilson (first-team); RB Knile Davis (first); WR Cobi Hamilton (first); TE Chris Gragg (second); OL Alvin Bailey (second); LB Alonzo Highsmith (second); KR Dennis Johnson (second); C Travis Swanson (third); DT Byran Jones (third); K Zach Hocker (third); P Dylan Breeding (third); S Eric Bennett (fourth).
NOTABLE:
QB Tyler Wilson is No. 4 on the list of Heisman favorites; RB Knile Davis and WR Cobi Hamilton are named second team All-Americans; Tyler Wilson is a third team all-American; The Razorbacks have what is picked as the 18th toughest schedule in the country; Arkansas is projected to play in the Cotton Bowl against Oklahoma State.

SPEAKING OUT
“This year the Hogs get both LSU and Alabama at home and are more experienced with 13 returning starters including their quarterback, but now face the season without [Bobby] Petrino. … I had Arkansas down as a National Title contender prior to this spring and this is a very dangerous team.”
