Arkansans Tinsley, Spearmon Earn Spots In London Olympics

The state of Arkansas will be well represented in the London Olympics.

Sprinter Wallace Spearmon of Fayetteville qualified during the US Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore. with an easy victory in the 200 meters. Michael Tinsley, who prepped at Pulaski Robinson, had little trouble in the 400 hurdles.

Spearmon, who ran at Arkansas, ran a 19.82 to win the 200. His closest competitor ran a 20.14.

Tinsley, who was a national champion hurdler at Jackson State, also had an easy time in his event. He ran a 48.33.
