Tyler Wilson had a quality debut season as a starter at Arkansas.
In fact, Wilson was good enough to become the only Razorback quarterback to be named first-team All-SEC after a season. Wilson began working his way up the school records list and even garnered some serious interest from NFL teams.
With Wilson running the offense the Razorbacks won 11 games for the first time since 1978 and they finished ranked No. 5.
None of that was enough for Wilson, who sees much more ahead for himself and the Razorbacks this season.
“There’s a lot left here to achieve,” Wilson said in Title Dreams Keep Arkansas' Wilson, Hamilton, Davis On Hill, part of our 2012 ArkansasSports360.com Football Preview. “We have the possibility to win a national championship. I have personal goals of records. I want to finish my degree. I want to get better as a football player. ... I felt this was something solid, something I know. I wanted to keep being a part of this.
“I know what we’re capable of doing.”
Wilson was speaking for himself, but the thoughts are similar to those expressed by running back Knile Davis and wide receiver Cobi Hamilton. All three explored the possibility of entering the NFL draft and chose to stay at Arkansas.
What brought them back? What do they hope to accomplish?
Reasons for returning are explored in greater detail in our 2012 ArkansasSports360.com Football Preview magazine. We also look at:
•The players, including a teammate, Wilson will most likely be competing for in the Heisman Trophy race.
•We know about Wilson, Hamilton and Davis. But who are the other Razorbacks offensive players viewed among the Top 5 prospects nationally at their position?
•With all that talent on offense, what numbers would the Razorbacks have to put up to rank among the SEC’s best ever?
•How does Wilson’s first year as a starter compare with the debut of his predecessor (Ryan Mallett)?
