Ronnie Brewer's Limited Offensive Game Should Serve Him Well With New York Knicks

Ronnie Brewer is not viewed as a great scorer in the NBA. The former Arkansas star isn’t seen as the sort of player that needs points or shots to thrive.

That won’t necessarily be seen as a liability on his new team.

Brewer, who signed a one-year, $1 million deal with the New York Knicks earlier this week, will be sharing a roster with Carmelo Anthony, and Amar’e Stoudemire. Those guys want the ball in their hands frequently, and as the New York Post points out, Brewer’s ability to contribute without scoring should be a plus for the Knicks.

Here’s more on the Brewer signing from the NY Post:

Brewer, a six-year veteran, averaged 6.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists for the Bulls last season, when he started 43 games and averaged just under 25 minutes a game. For his career, Brewer has averaged 9.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists in his time with the Bulls and Jazz.

While he’s not much of an offensive threat — a career 24-percent 3-point shooter — Brewer could be a nice fit in the Knicks’ starting lineup … as an option who doesn’t need many shots.

Brewer is regarded as a solid defender. That likely will help his case for playing time.

Now that Brewer is in New York, Joe Johnson has company. Johnson, a former Razorback, is now playing for the Brooklyn Nets.
