Arkansas and Nebraska remain hot in pursuit of Kansas City (Mo.) Rockhurst offensive lineman Zach Hannon.
Hannon, 6 foot 5, 295 pounds, visited Arkansas' football camp Saturday. Hannon made the trip with his friend, Lee's Summit (Mo.) West defensive end Jamone Boyd. Hannon's father and uncle also drove down from Kansas City.
“Even though I really didn't get to participate it's always fun coming back down to Arkansas,” Hannon said. “I love it, I love the experience.”
Hannon is rated a 3-star recruit by 247Sports. He is being recruited by Arkansas quarterbacks coach Paul Petrino and offensive line coach Chris Klenakis.
“Coach Petrino kind of found me out of the blue,” Hannon said. “Arkansas was the first one to offer me. I like Coach Petrino a lot. I can't say enough about Coach K as well. Both are great coaches.”
In addition to Arkansas and Nebraska, Hannon had offers from Missouri, Kansas, Northwestern and several others. His parents graduated from Missouri and many thought the school would be the favorite for Hannon, but he opted to look in a different direction.
“I would say so,” Hannon said when asked if his choice was down to two schools. “I'm done making trips. I don't know how I'm going to commit yet, but it will be before August and it's pretty much between Arkansas and Nebraska.”
Hannon has said in the past he wanted to attend the same school as Boyd, who has offers from Arkansas and Nebraska.
“We've always been talking about committing together,” Hannon said. “Hopefully, that dream comes true. I hope at the end of the day we will be at the same school. We became friends at a Kansas Junior Day on the day Kansas played Missouri in Lawrence and from then on we just became good friends.”
Hannon stopped short of naming Arkansas or Nebraska the leader when asked.
“I'm not going to say anything right there,” Hannon said smiling. “But I'm just going to say it's always good to come down to Arkansas. That's all I'm going to say.”
Hannon said he didn't make his decision Saturday because his mother wasn't able to be present.
