Marshawn Powell was on the floor with Arkansas when practice began on Monday. He’s expected to work out with the Razorbacks as they prepare for an August exhibition trip to Italy, but his status for games has not been determined.

Powell, who suffered a season-ending knee injury before the third game last season, has progressed well in his rehab, according to Coach Mike Anderson. But Anderson said he wants to continue monitoring Powell before giving him playing time in the four games overseas.

"When we have been doing our individual workouts he has been doing a good job," Anderson said. "He is doing everything he can to get back and be an impact with this basketball team."

Arkansas isn’t using transfers Alandise Harris or Fred Gulley at this time in practice. Anderson said he is being cautious because neither player is not yet eligible. Harris, a forward from Little Rock, transferred in from Houston and has applied for immediate eligibility. Gulley, a point guard from Fayetteville, will be able to play at the end of the fall semester.

Even without Gulley or Harris, the Razorbacks have plenty of bodies. Arkansas enters the season with 17 players on the roster. Quarterback Brandon Mitchell will likely join the team following football season. Mitchell played last season and has expressed a desire to do so again.
