Knile Davis’ first runs against live tackling in more than a year were apparently a success.

Coaches gave the Arkansas running back his first full contact since last August when an ankle injury on an inside run ended his season. Only coaches and select boosters were allowed inside the scrimmage, but favorable reports emerged on Twitter.

Davis’ tweet: “Hahaha still got it ... good scrimmage today the team looked great #Blessed & highly favored !!!” Arkansas had withheld Davis, a preseason all-SEC pick, from full contact and according to multiple parties who witnessed the scrimmage, Davis’ work came against a defense made up primarily of reserves.

An earlier tweet from Davis included a photo of what he described as his first carry.

Running backs coach Tim Horton also gave a favorable scrimmage report on Twitter. His message to fans: “Good scrimmage tonight! No turnovers, not many penalties and no injuries. This is a fun group to coach!”

Arkansas opens the season Saturday against Jacksonville State. Davis, who ran for more than 1,300 yards in 2010, is expected to start against the Gamecocks.
