Arkansas commit Bobby Portis will visit Sept. 15 and watch the Razorbacks' football game against Alabama.

Arkansas is gearing up for a big game with Alabama on Sept. 15. And the Razorbacks are also looking for a big recruiting weekend.

Mike Anderson and the basketball program love to take advantage of a big football weekend to host recruits. Anderson will host a pair of top recruits beginning Sept. 14. Little Rock Hall 5-star power forward Bobby Portis (6 foot 9, 225 pounds) and Huntington (W.Va.) Prep 4-star center Moses Kingsley (6-9, 200) will be on Arkansas' campus and attend the football game in addition to the basketball and academic aspects of the visit.

Portis is committed to Arkansas while Kingsley, who played on the Arkansas Wings with Portis, has several schools in pursuit. Arkansas has also made the final list of Arlington (Texas) Grace Prepatory Academy 4-star forward Jordan Mickey (6-8, 225). Mickey will choose from Arkansas, LSU, SMU, Oklahoma State and Ohio State.

Arkansas’ football team could host up to six official visitors and any number of unofficial visitors.

Among the recruits slated to be on an official visit are Encinitas (Calif.) La Costa Canyon 4-star center Scott Quessenberry (6-4, 265), Lee's Summitt (Mo.) West 3-star defensive end Jamone Boyd (6-4, 265), Prosper (Texas) 4-star wide receiver Torii Hunter (6-1, 172) and Phoenix (Ariz.) Brophy College Prepatory 4-star wide receiver Devon Allen (6-1, 187). Phoenix (Ariz.) Mountain Pointe 3-star offensive tackle Kenny Lacy (6-5, 275) was originally slated to be in Fayetteville that weekend, but will instead visit one week later on Sept. 22 for the Rutgers game.

Stanford may be extremely difficult to beat for Allen, who also has schools including Arizona State, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Texas, UCLA and Washington in hot pursuit along with the Razorbacks.

Quessenberry could pick from Washington, Nebraska and California, though the Razorbacks are hoping to improve their standing with this visit.

Hunter's father, Torii Hunter Sr., is from Pine Bluff and is a Gold Glove winner playing for the Los Angeles Angels. The younger Hunter has numerous options and also has visits set to Notre Dame on Sept. 22 and Nebraska the following week. Texas and Oklahoma, among others, are also in the mix for his signature. Hunter will play football and baseball in college.

Boyd has the Razorbacks at the top of his list and was outstanding at the camp in Fayetteville in July. Boyd also has Illinois, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas and Kansas State on his list.

In a bit of good news for the Razorbacks in Little Rock, in recent years they have had to choose which game to host unofficial visitors, but the SEC changed the rule this year to allow schools to host recruits at any off-campus games. That will allow the Razorbacks to play host to recruits Saturday as well as the Ole Miss game on Oct. 27.

First Game Reviews

Arkansas hosted approximately 25 recruits for unofficial visits last week when it defeated Jacksonville State 49-24 in Razorback Stadium.
