Arkansas quarterback Tyler Wilson returned to practice Wednesday, but has not been cleared to play against No. 1 Alabama.

Wilson, dressed in shoulder pads and shorts, threw passes during the workout. It was an improvement from Tuesday when he watched in shorts and a t-shirt, but there is no update on his status for the Crimson Tide.

“He was on the field today, out there leading like he should,” Coach John L. Smith said. “He was out, he was throwing. He could have done whatever he wanted to do today, basically. And it was good having him out there doing that. But, he has not been cleared yet. So, we’re still day-to-day dealing with him. But he was practicing.

“Definitely no contact.”

Wilson sustained a hit to the head late in the first half of last week’s 34-31 overtime loss to Louisiana-Monroe. Brandon Allen and wide receiver Brandon Mitchell have been getting increased reps in practice this week.

Defensive end Chris Smith said Wilson looked good in his return.

“His throws looked sharp and everything like that, so he’s going to be ready to go on Saturday,” Smith said.
