What have we learned from Week 2 of the NFL season?

Well, we’ve learned there is still a lot to learn, and everyone should just settle in, grab a brewsker-do and get ready for the long haul.

Teams that looked bad on opening day looked good last weekend (Bills, Colts), while teams that at first looked stellar struggled (Bears, Cowboys, Broncos). But that’s pro football in the age of parity and free agency.

Undefeated San Francisco carries an early-season glow, especially after winning Handshake Bowl II, the rematch with Detroit that had everyone breathlessly wondering if 49ers Coach Jim Harbaugh and Lions Coach Jim Schwartz would make nice after the game following last year’s postgame dustup.

They did. But our interest was on Arkansas State/Camden Harmony Grove product Corey Williams, the Lions defensive tackle who scraped together one tackle and shared a sack as San Francisco won 27-19.

In fact, let’s just go ahead and catch up with all the Williamses from Arkansas.

Tennessee Titans receiver Damian Williams (Springdale) had four receptions for 45 yards and a long of 18 in a 38-10 loss to San Diego. Minnesota defensive lineman Kevin Williams (Fordyce) had two tackles in a 23-20 loss to the Colts and Green Bay tight end D.J. Williams (Central Arkansas Christian, Arkansas) had one catch for 6 yards as the Packers beat the discombobulated Bears 23-10.

Then there was DeAngelo Williams (Wynne) who had 14 carries for 69 yards and a touchdown as the Carolina Panthers beat the scandalized New Orleans Saints 35-27. Williams’ 3-yard, third-quarter scoring run put his team ahead 28-13.

It was a day for running backs from the Natural State. Not necessarily a good day. More like a day at the office.

Darren McFadden (Oak Grove, Arkansas) continues to lead the Oakland Raiders’ nonexistent rushing attack. He gained a team-high 22 yards on 11 carries as the Miami Dolphins beat the Raiders 35-13 and he had two catches for 19 yards.

Peyton Hillis (Conway, Arkansas) led the Chiefs with 66 yards on 11 carries in a 35-17 loss to Buffalo.

For Dallas, Felix Jones (Arkansas) had one carry for 1 yard and four catches for 23 as Dallas suffered its first loss against Seattle.
