Remember the $70,000 Razorbacks basketball listed on eBay earlier this summer? It’s still there, and now it’s joined by another, this one priced $20,000 below the first.
The second ball was listed as a buy-it-now for $50,000 or best offer by seller eric2623, apparently a resident of Van Buren. The listing expires in about a week, but it will likely be relisted if unsold.
Like the first listing, the high price tag is due to the ball being signed by the 1994 NCAA men’s championship team. The game was a famous win for the Razorbacks, to say the least.
There are “very few of these basketballs in existence,” eric2623 wrote on the listing. “It has 13 of the players’ autographs on it.”
In an email, eric2623 told Whispers that he had contacted the University of Arkansas to determine the value of the ball.
“They said that we shouldn’t even have one,” he said. “The only people that got one that year was the staff that year and the players.”
He also mentioned that he decided to sell it after seeing the first ball’s listing.
The seller of the first ball, mrs_gresham1, told us in June that her husband had won the ball at a raffle in 1994. So far, 11 offers have been made on the $70,000 ball, and all have either expired or been declined. No one has made any offers on the second basketball.
