Realtors: Arkansas Home Sales Flat in July, Down 5.6 Percent in August

The Arkansas Realtors Association said Wednesday that home sales were essentially flat in July and down 5.6 percent in August compared to the same months last year.

In July, 2,165 homes were sold, down from 2,167 in July 2011. More than half the homes sold in July were sold in Pulaski, Benton, Washington, Saline and Faulkner counties.

Of those, Pulaski County recorded the most sales: 364 versus 376 last year, down 3 percent.

Benton County home sales were at 343, up 18 percent from last year. Washington County sales were at 238, up 19 percent.

Meanwhile, the average price of homes sold rose by more than 13 percent to $164,091.

In August, 2,266 homes were sold, down from 2,401 in August 2011. More than half the homes sold in August were sold in Benton, Pulaski, Washington, Faulkner and Sebastian counties.

Of those, Benton County recorded the most home sales: 374 versus 340 last year, up 10 percent.

Pulaski County home sales were at 361, down 1 percent from last year. Washington County sales were at 220, up 7 percent.

Meanwhile, the average price of homes sold rose by more than 17 percent to $164,964.
