Pilgrim's Pride Closing Hope Feed Mill

Pilgrim's Pride Corp. of Greeley, Colo., announced Friday that it was closing its Hope feed mill at the end of the month.

The chicken processing company said its DeQueen feed mill has become more efficient.

Few details about the closing were available Friday afternoon, but the approximately 12 employees who work at the Hope mill will be offered jobs at Pilgrim's locations in the DeQueen and Mount Pleasant areas, the company said.

For the fiscal year that ended Dec. 24, 2011, Pilgrim's reported $7.5 billion in revenue and a loss of $496.8 million. In the same period a year ago, it reported a net income of $87.1 million on revenue of $6.9 billion.
