Local hotelier Larry Farrar died of cancer on Saturday in Little Rock.

Farrar, 68, was the general manager of the Hilton Little Rock Medical Center and past general manager of the Embassy Suites Little Rock.

He also served in 2010 as president of the Arkansas Lodging Association and as chairman of the board of the Arkansas Hospitality Association.

"I think he was a great mentor to people in the hospitality industry," AHA executive director Montine McNulty said Monday. "He had just an even and positive way of dealing with people. I think he brought out the best in those who worked for him and those he came in contact with."

Farrar was born June 15, 1944, in El Dorado, Kan.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Roller Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock. See the full obituary here.
