HOGS FINALLY WIN
Jim Harris: Are you surprised with the apparent ease that Arkansas dispatched Auburn last Saturday? Did Arkansas turn a corner or just beat a woeful team?
Adam Kramer: I was impressed with the way the Arkansas defense really got after the Auburn offense, but I'm also cautious given the opposition. What exactly is Auburn's mentality right now? We assumed that the Arkansas players had lost motivation, although perhaps we should be looking at the other side of the ball instead when it comes to this discussion.
Doc Harper: I wasn’t surprised Auburn struggled on offense but you still have to give the Arkansas defense credit. None of the other teams Auburn has faced collected eight sacks and five turnovers.
Harris: Right. I thought Auburn was coming in with the great defensive ends against a bad offensive line. Where were their sacks?
Jessica Duff: The thing that surprised me the most was the effectiveness of the Arkansas defense. I understand Auburn has struggled but Arkansas’ defense has been abysmal as well. How easily they made tackles, rushed/sacked the QBs multiple times and the turnovers they caused truly shocked me. An efficient win on both sides of the ball should give Hog fans a reason to feel a little bit better about the season at the midway point.
Justin Acri: I am not shocked, but I thought Tenarius Wright, Tevin Mitchel and Chris Gragg being out would be too impactful for Arkansas to win. We knew Auburn’s offense was abhorrent, so no big surprise there. Arkansas could come back and flop this week so let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
Chris Bahn: Auburn was worse than I'd imagined. Seeing them play LSU within 12-10 made me think it would be tough for Arkansas. But the Razorbacks finally found a team they could push around on the offensive and defensive lines.
Mark Edwards: Not surprised. They have a new OC in Auburn. It could be a year or two to get recruits in that do well in that scheme. And yes! to turning a corner and yet beating a bad team.
Harris: Well, is Gene Chizik treading dangerous waters now with the Auburn faithful after the 1-4 start? I can't think of another coach ever who's had such a fast fall from a national championship.
Edwards: I've never considered Gene Chizik a great coach. Maybe coordinator, but never a good coach.
