High-Speed Fiber Possible for Business Clients

Some top-dollar Comcast clients in Little Rock might be getting access to extremely fast broadband in the near future.

Our sources said that the Internet service provider may, within a year, start marketing a business-class broadband service as fast as 1 gigabit per second. At its peak, that's about 100 times faster than a typical broadband modem.

Gig service can be enormously expensive - ranging in the thousands of dollars per month - and since it's so fast, some providers charge per gig instead of per month. It would likely use cables that are already in place throughout Little Rock.

The service would be marketed to data-heavy clients like hospitals, being useful for high-speed transfer of medical files and X-ray scans.
