Arkansas junior defensive end Chris Smith was arrested Wednesday morning in Fayetteville after a failure to make a scheduled court appearance.

Fayetteville police arrested Smith, 20, on charges of not appearing in Farmington City Court on suspicion of speeding. He was booked at 3:02 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Washington County Detention Center website, and released on a $415 bond at 4:11 am.

Farmington police pulled Smith over May 4 for speeding. Officers said he was traveling 64 miles an hour in a 45 mph zone. A warrant was issued for his arrest July 31 after Smith failed to appear in court.

Smith has a hearing Friday and a new court date Dec. 19. Both appearances are to be at Farmington City Court.

Smith is the seventh Arkansas football player to be arrested in 2012. Five of the previous six were dismissed from the team.

Coach John L. Smith said after meeting with Smith that he would play Saturday against Kentucky.
