The 4,000-SF Centers for Children in Jonesboro, which opened Sept. 27 to provide basic medical specialty care to children in northeast Arkansas.

The Centers for Children, a joint venture of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Department of Pediatrics and Arkansas Children's Hospital, opened Sept. 27 at 520 Carson St. in Jonesboro.

The facility offers basic medical specialty services for children in northeast Arkansas. Initially, the 4,000-SF leased space opened with a neurology clinic staffed full time by Dr. Stephen Bates, who has practiced in the area for several years.

But later this month, the center will add a monthly cardiology clinic, where doctors will attend the clinic on a rotating schedule.

The Centers for Children expects 1,500 to 2,000 visits to its clinics in the first year and plans to open additional clinics in the near future based on referrals and feedback from area doctors.
