Harding University Promotes 4 (Movers & Shakers, Oct. 29, 2012)

Education

Amy Adair, Jimmy Behel, Reet Cronk and Cheri Smith have received promotions at Harding University in Searcy. Adair was named director of professional experience; Behel, chair of business graduate studies; Cronk, chair of management information systems; and Smith, director of teacher education.

Janet Lanza has received the Distinguished Service Citation from the Ecological Society of America. Lanza, a professor of biology at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, has been book review editor of the society's journal Ecology for 20 years.

Wendy Hymes has been named director of the Fowler Center, the concert hall in the College of Fine Arts at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.

Financial Services

Fred A. Wood was recently awarded Merger & Acquisition Master Intermediary status by the M&A Source, an international organization of merger and acquisition intermediaries. Wood is the founder and principal owner of Cornerstone Business Advisors LLC in Little Rock.

Leigh A. Cockrum has been promoted to vice president at Simmons First National Corp. Cockrum has served Simmons First for almost 15 years through her work with the Human Resources Group.

Jim Liles, Sandy Cothran and Brian Cross were recently hired at Crews & Associates Inc. Liles was named vice president and has more than 32 years of experience in the investment industry.Cothran joins the firm as a registered sales assistant with more than 15 years of experience in securities and banking. Cross was hired as an account executive. Liles and Cothran will work in the firm's Searcy office and Cross in Little Rock.

Health Care

Scott Street was elected as at-large delegate to the Arkansas Hospital Association board of directors. Street has served as president of Mercy Northwest Arkansas since 2010.

Dr. Mark Wright has joined Jonesboro Surgical Associates. Wright, who completed his fellowships in vascular and endovascular surgery, is also a member of the medical staff at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Insurance

Bryan Dorathy of Little Rock was named agency market manager at Arkansas Blue Cross & Blue Shield.
Blake Mitchell has been named regional vice president at Transamerica Employee Benefits in Little Rock. Mitchell is responsible for overseeing and growing the company's sales in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Memphis.

Nonprofits

Doug Cummins and Ben Harris of Fayetteville have joined the Symphony of Northwest Arkansas. Cummins became the symphony's full-time associate director, and Harris joined as a part-time production manager.

Technology

Tim Suther, the chief marketing and strategy officer at Acxiom Corp. of Little Rock, has been ranked among the Top CMOs of 2012 by ExecRank. The list includes the top 500 CMOs in the country out of the more than 15,000 ExecRank evaluated.

Kevin Weisinger has been hired as director of strategic sales, North America, by Applied Technology Group USA in North Little Rock. In his new role, Weisinger will focus on developing ATG's consultative business model.
